Microsoft silently removes Git version control for Canvas Apps

If you previously used native (experimental) Canvas Apps Git integration, Microsoft just made your work harder. Native Canvas Apps Git integration is an experimental feature that was introduced in late 2021. It was saving rapid Power Platform development before Coauthoring was even a thing, allowing my team to develop a single canvas app with 7 developers in 2023 and saving one of the most important projects. This feature is still used there, but soon we will be forced to say goodbye. For new applications, this feature is no longer visible in Canvas Apps Studio. If it was already turned on, it stays retired. If you turn it off, there is no way to run it back without source code tampering. There is no official communication about when it will stop working completely. This change is really unfortunate for me as it confirms a few things: 👉 Native canvas app integration was able to accommodate Non-Premium applications, which will not be the case anymore 👉 .. in other words, Microsoft shifted to allow any Git integrations ONLY for PREMIUM solutions hosted in Managed Environments 👉 GitHub integration was removed, forcing Citizen Developers to use DevOps for source control and pay for an additional costly license 👉 To use Git integration now, you need to have System Administrator access, which makes it not possible in most cases to use this feature streamlined in Shared corporate environments, excluding the ability to implement this feature in multiple organizations 👉 There will no longer be the ability to commit your changes from Power Apps studio - you will need to do it via solutions. What's positive? Now, you will be able to synchronize not only Canvas Apps but all solutions/environment components.
