Mobile-native apps are coming to Power Platform

Mobile-native apps - a new Code-first application stack is quietly making its way into Microsoft Power Platform. And I've deployed it to my tenant! This is a product offering from Microsoft that is yet to be fully documented and disclosed publically, but started to creep into some Microsoft platforms in the last 2 weeks: πŸ‘‰ power-platform-skills Github repository with an MCP server, sample mobile app template and AI instructions. πŸ‘‰ A dedicated Power Apps Mobile Preview app in the Apple App Store for testing native applications. πŸ‘‰ Power Platform Solutions now allowing existing Mobile App assets to be added to a solution. πŸ‘‰ NPM packages @microsoft/power-apps-native-host, @microsoft/power-apps-native-auth and @microsoft/power-apps-native-common What's particularly interesting is the technology direction. This isn't another web-first framework wrapped in a mobile shell. The architecture is clearly mobile-native first, with offline-first Dataverse experiences as the default. The provided sample leverages Expo Router (with Metro bundler) for it's navigation patterns and code structure abd builds. Tamagui for building react-native interfaces. Tanstack/react-query, react-native and zod libraries. The Tamagui choice surprised me. Microsoft already has Fluent UI for React Native, yet the sample intentionally goes in a different direction. Looking back at my own experiments generating Fluent UI applications with AI, this choice actually starts making sense - Tamagui tends to produce a much smoother developer experience for AI-assisted development which was not my exprience for Fluent UI libraries. The bigger picture is even more interesting. This isn't a standalone effort. #BetterTogether story with Code Apps is also visible, with the same Power Platform SDK bridge, npm push capabilities, and flow and connector linking service generation methods (npx power-apps) showing up to the party. The vision becomes increasingly clear: Power Platform evolving into a managed application platform, regardless of whether you're building model-driven apps, canvas apps, web applicationsβ€”or now fully native mobile experiences. πŸ‘‡ Reference links in comment section πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‰ Apple App Store page: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/power-apps-mobile-preview/id6753083462 πŸ‘‰ NPM package: https://www.npmjs.com/package/@microsoft/power-apps-native-host?activeTab=readme πŸ‘‰ GitHub template and skills: https://github.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/tree/main/plugins/mobile-apps
