Column-level security and solution management including git source control are things you need to refresh before renewing the PL-600 and PL-400 exams in 2025! March is my annual certification renewal season with Microsoft Learn - this round is PL-400 and PL-600 which are two top-level exams for Power Platform. Here's a breakdown of what's typical, what's new, what I've learned, and what surprised me. πŸ‘‡ PL-600 πŸ‘‡ Learning highlights: Admin center management, integrations with external data sources (especially OnPrem and SQL) using Virtual Tables, app testing, and functional/non-functional requirements understanding πŸ†• Something new you should review for PL-600 πŸ†• column-level security My take on PL-600 renewal: I’ve always considered the PL-600 as one of the most approachable Power Platform exams to pass. Why? It's more general and focused on architecture, interactions, and analysis skills. However, this renewal presented unexpected challenges. Many questions seemed designed to trip you up, with tricky wording that required extra attention to small details. Those details in an ordinary business analysis process would have clearer emphasis and here looked to me like guesswork - when it finally enlightens you about what the author had in mind, you will say that it was obvious. Before that, you won't agree at all with some of the questions. πŸ‘‰ One surprising detail: the pass rate, once at 48%, is now standardized to 60%. πŸ‘‰ One new skill I learned preparing for renewal? You can create Dataverse Virtual Tables directly from Excel files – a handy trick! πŸ‘‡ PL-400 πŸ‘‡ Learning highlights: Model-driven app development, customizing model ribbon, Dataverse dataflows, sharing canvas apps, configuring external identity providers in Power Pages πŸ†•Something new you should review for PL-400 πŸ†• solutions and git source control My take on PL-400 renewal: I believe this is still the hardest Power Platform exam to pass as it focuses more in-depth on technical skills in topics you may not even touch during a few years of work with Power Apps. However, the renewal itself was a really enjoyable experience, allowing me to refresh some standard development practices. Overall really good written assessment!
